Chemist

About the Role

We are looking for practising chemists to help evaluate AI answers to applied chemistry questions. You will check procedures and conclusions, write prompts and reference answers, and flag unsafe or incorrect guidance.

Key Responsibilities

Evaluate AI answers to applied chemistry questions (synthesis, analysis, laboratory practice, materials).
Write prompts and reference answers at professional level.
Flag unsafe or incorrect chemical procedures and explain the correct approach.
Apply project rubrics consistently.
Review the work of other experts for accuracy.
Follow project guidelines, take part in calibration and review sessions, and incorporate feedback to keep quality consistent.

Who We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

Degree in chemistry or the chemical sciences.
Professional laboratory or industry experience.
Strong knowledge of laboratory safety.
Excellent written English.
Reliable, detail-oriented, and able to work independently and meet deadlines in a remote setting.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with analytical instrumentation (NMR, HPLC, GC-MS).
Safety or regulatory training.
Prior AI-training experience.

Content Restrictions

Do not write, request or submit synthesis routes, formulations, quantities or operational details for chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear or explosive weapons, or for illicit drugs.
If a task, a model output or a guideline contains such content, stop, do not reproduce it, and report it to the project team.
Safety-related answers must stay at the level of general hazard awareness and appropriate safety practice.
Rex may reject or remove any submission that breaches these rules.

Rex may verify identity, credentials, ownership and licensing; may reject or remove any submission; and may report unlawful submissions to the relevant authorities.
Engagement and payment are subject to successful verification and to applicable sanctions, export-control, tax and employment laws.
The contractor agreement will set out ownership and licence terms for the work you deliver (to be confirmed by Rex Legal).

Compensation

USD $70–125 per hour, adjusted by country of residence.
