About this opportunity
This is a talent pool application, not a role with an immediate start date.
We are building a vetted network of legal professionals ahead of upcoming project demand. AI systems are increasingly asked to reason about contracts, statutes, case law and regulation — and judging whether that reasoning holds up requires people who practise law, not people who have read about it.
By applying, you join a curated pool. When a project matching your profile opens, you are contacted directly, with the scope and the compensation laid out upfront. There is no obligation to accept, and no penalty for declining. You stay in the pool for future opportunities.
What this work typically looks like
Projects vary depending on the needs of our AI partners. Typical work may include:
- Evaluating whether an AI system's legal reasoning is sound and correctly grounded in the applicable law.
- Reviewing AI-generated analyses, clauses, summaries and arguments for accuracy and completeness.
- Identifying answers that read as authoritative but are wrong, outdated, or wrong for the jurisdiction.
- Designing realistic legal scenarios and test cases used to evaluate AI capabilities.
- Creating evaluation criteria and rubrics that separate strong answers from weak ones.
- Reviewing work produced by other legal professionals against those rubrics.
This is expert, task-based work performed remotely and asynchronously.
Requirements
- A law degree or equivalent legal qualification, with hands-on professional experience.
- At least one verifiable signal of your professional background.
- Comfortable reading and writing technical content in English.
- Work only with the materials provided by the project.
You must never use privileged or confidential client information, case materials, or anything covered by professional secrecy. Vetto projects never require it, and any scenario you write must be fictional or fully de-identified.
Important: this work is the evaluation of AI systems. It is not the practice of law and does not constitute legal advice to any person.
Vetto runs expert-driven AI projects for model developers. Openings target engineers, coders, data and automation specialists and other professionals who help plan, build and evaluate AI training data.
