About the Role

We are recruiting native American English speakers with a natural American accent for a paid voice recording project involving alphanumeric speech. You will read short sentences that contain numbers, letters and codes, such as phone numbers, order numbers, email addresses, website URLs, dates and prices.

This is a scripted reading task. Each sentence comes with a short reading guide that explains exactly how it should be read, for example saying “zero” instead of “oh”, or spelling out letters one by one. You then read the sentence aloud, word for word, in your natural everyday American accent. Accuracy is the most important part of this project: every letter and number must be read exactly as written. No acting or voice-over experience is required.

Your participation will include:

Completing a short screening questionnaire and recording one practice sentence
Reading short alphanumeric sentences aloud, following the reading guide for each one
Recording online through our recording platform from a quiet, private room using a wired headset
Re-recording any sentences that don’t meet our quality requirements
Working on your own schedule within the project timeline

Who We're Looking For

You must:

Be 18 years or older
Be a native speaker of American English who grew up in the US
Speak with a natural American accent (please don’t exaggerate or put on an accent)
Be comfortable having your voice recorded
Be very careful and detail-oriented when reading numbers, letters and codes
Use a laptop or desktop computer for all recording sessions
Use a wired headset with a microphone during recording sessions
Have a stable internet connection
Record from a quiet, private indoor room

Phones, tablets and Bluetooth microphones cannot be used for recording.

Compensation

$35–45/hr of accepted audio
