Food Image Data Collection Project
Project Overview
We are looking for participants to support a Food Image Data Collection Project. Selected participants will prepare an approved, authentic local dish at home and submit clear food images, a short video, and required recipe information through the project platform.
Participant Requirements
Must be able to prepare a local/authentic dish associated with their country.
The dish must be prepared at home using fresh ingredients or acceptable pre-processed ingredients.
Must have a consumer-grade smartphone with a good-quality camera.
Must have a digital kitchen weighing scale- MANDATORY
Must have good lighting and a clean/plain background for photography.
Must be able to follow the project instructions and submission guidelines.
What You Need to Do
Select and reserve an eligible dish through the Meal Reservation Tracker.
Wait for approval before purchasing ingredients or preparing the dish.
Prepare the approved dish at home.
Weigh each ingredient after preparation and record the weight.
Capture one on-scale and one off-scale photo for every ingredient.
Capture the required final plated-dish photo(s).
Record a 3–5 second video of the plated single serving.
Important Guidelines
Only submit an approved dish; duplicate submissions may be rejected.
Restaurant, takeaway, frozen, ready-to-eat, leftover, or reheated meals are not allowed.
Every ingredient must be documented separately, including garnishes, spices, oils, sauces, and seasonings.
Photos must be clear, well-lit, and show the entire ingredient/dish.
The weighing scale must be visible in on-scale ingredient photos but must not appear in off-scale photos.
The final plated dish should not be photographed in a cooking pot, mixing bowl, or on a weighing scale.
All images and videos must be captured using a consumer-grade smartphone; DSLR cameras and professional studio lighting are not allowed.
Serving Types
Single Serving: Prepare one serving and plate the entire dish.
Multi Serving: If the recipe produces multiple servings, additional information and photos are required, including the total cooked recipe weight, single-serving weight, and full recipe photo.
Submission Quality
Incomplete submissions may be rejected. Before submitting, participants should ensure that the dish reservation is approved, all ingredients are photographed and weighed correctly, required photos/video are included, and all necessary metadata is entered.
